How Green Is Your Home?

As we head into the first month of spring, there is no doubt -- real estate activity has increased significantly in many parts of the country. This leaves many to wonder: is this the beginning of the end of the real estate market downturn? The spring market is looming -- the big question is, what type of market will it be? 2006 is no longer new news for anyone. We hit a market downturn -- after 5 years of hot growth, it was bound to happen. But more important is how long will the downturn last? This factor is vital for anyone thinking of putting their home up for sale in 2007.

The wide-angle-lens, big picture view makes more sense when thinking about solar power systems. In the short term, the cost of installing a solar system can be high, especially if you hire someone else to do it for you. The return is guaranteed, though, unless the sun burns out, in which case we will have bigger concerns than our investments.

The power struggle I refer to is the absolute need for control even though there are better solutions available; to be in control just for the sake of being 'right' in other words.

This will take team work so have everyone in the household get involved with making sure lights are off in rooms unoccupied. Have someone assigned to making sure that appliances are unplugged each night. You can cut back on your electrical bill Sustainable Homes by buying energy saver light bulbs. These bulbs cost more but last much longer and are more energy efficient.

These types of boilers have been around for a very long time, but they have changed quite a bit. They are now very efficient, comfortable and do not require as much maintenance as their older counterparts. Wood burning furnaces now produce as much as 90% less emissions than a wood burning fire place. The pellets used in these boilers are made from waste material and wood, of course, is renewable. A nice feature of this type of boiler is that pellets are added as needed by the use of an auger and the only maintenance required is filling the hopper and removing ash.

Another pro of this type of flooring is that bamboo is a sustainable resource. If you want to do the green thing, you will find that unlike wood, bamboo is sustainable. Forests are not diminished for this type of flooring. Bamboo matures in just a few years and will grow again, since it is actually a grass.

The third way to enrich our core belief system is through knowledge. As we read more, travel more, do more, our belief is nourished. Personally for me, going off to college in Texas, some 800 miles away from Alabama, and studying, traveling and meeting people from around the globe enriched my belief in myself immensely. Just by me getting a 4 year degree, fostered my belief in myself to an all time high. It allows me to feel that I can hang out with the educated, if you will.

These are only some of the reasons solar power homes are quickly becoming more of the way to go. Of course there are plenty more reasons that people want to try this method of energy, which you can uncover with just a bit of research. Keep learning why solar power is such a big deal and decide: is this right ecoomical for you and your family? This isn't an impulse buy, either, this is a big investment. Keep in mind that there are two sides to every issue, and if you want to make a smart buying decision, do more research.
